MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND
Beginning Band Meeting 2019
To be Determined
The Middle School Band is where all the magic begins.
Students learn how to hold and assemble their instrument, make their first sounds, make friends, play fun music and become future leaders in the program.
Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions:
1. Do I have to join in 6th Grade?
Yes. The 6th Grade year is when all the fundamentals are taught.
The basics of music reading are also learned and how connect that to the specific instrument being played. It is a very comprehensive program. If a 7th grader has high enough grades, a strong desire to be in the band and a good work ethic, exceptions can be made, but are very uncommon.
2. Do already have to know how to play an instrument?
NO! Students are taught the skills they need to succeed.
3. How much does it cost?
There is a $40 participation fee for the year. Students will also need an instrument and a few supplies. Information about rentals and supplies is available.
4. Will band interfere with sporting activities?
No. Band is during the regular school during the middle school years. This allows students to figure out their niches as they mature.
5. Are there a lot of after school concerts or performances?
No. During the 6th grade year, we have two report grade performances and the occur in December and in May or April. On a rare occasion, a 3rd concert might be scheduled, if administration requests.
